Crash - a Polish jazz-rock music band founded in 1976 in Wrocław by Zbigniew Czwojda.
Crash story:
(1976-1977):
In October 1976 Crash stunned the local jazz scene with their extraordinary debut performance at the international Jazz Jamboree festival in Warsaw. In 1977 the band performed at Jazz nad Odrą, where its pianist Juliusz Mazur won the first prize in the soloist category.
At that time Crash performed regularly at jazz festivals in Poland (Kalisz, Kraków, Lublin, Warszawa, Wrocław) and abroad (San Sebastián in Spain, Denmark, West Germany, Sweden). In 1977 roku drummer Zbigniew Lewandowski and vocalist Grażyna Łobaczewska joined the group.
In June 1977 at the 2nd International San Sebastián Jazz Festival, Crash won first prize in the modern jazz band category. This success opened up (taken) opportunities of touring Spain and performing with, among others, Sonny Rollins, Jorge Pardo and Carles Benavent.
(1978-1980):
In 1978 the band again performed in San Sebastián, with Zbigniew Lewandowski taking home the festival’s best drummer honours.
In 1977, 1978 and 1981 Crash performed with the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra (conducted by Tadeusz Chałaj) at Warsaw’s Jazz Jamboree festival. In 1979 Crash’s founder Zbigniew Czwojda left the group.
On 13 July 1979 Crash took part in the Jazz by Night concert (part of the legendary Lubań Music Camping) and on 6 July 1980 they performed at its second edition, called JAZZ II.

So far, these musicians have cooperated with such groups as: Szeście Conspiracy, Integration, Jumbo Jazz Band or Big Band "Wrocław".
In October of that year [2], the group Crash debuted with a successful performance at the Jazz Jamboree International Jazz Music Festival in Warsaw. Since then, the band has performed many times at jazz festivals in Poland (Kalisz, Krakow, Lublin, Warsaw, Wrocław), as well as abroad (San Sebastián in Spain, Denmark, West Germany, Sweden).
In San Sebastián he won the first prize at the 2nd International Jazz Festival (in the category of modern jazz bands), which created the possibility of later formation trips to Spain, as well as joint performances, including with Sonny Rollins. The Crash group was recognized by the editor-in-chief of the British magazine Melody Maker as the best jazz-rock group in Europe [3].
In 1977, Bielawski was replaced by Zbigniew Lewandowski [4], while in the spring of 1978 vocalist Grażyna Łobaszewska (ex-Ergo Band) [5] began working with the group. In 1977-1978 and in 1981, the band performed in major concerts at Jazz Jamboree with the Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tadeusz Chałaj. In 1979, his founder - Z. Czwojda (left for the United States) [3] left.
In the same year, Crash took part in the Jazz by night concert, which took place on July 13, 1979, as part of the legendary 1st Music Camping in Lubań [6], as well as in the second edition of the event, in a concert entitled JAZZ II, which took place July 6, 1980 [7].
The band performed alongside such performers as, among others: the "Ptaszyn" Wróblewski Quartet, Krystyna Prońko, The Quartet (composed of: Sławomir Kulpowicz, Tomasz Szukalski, Paweł Jarzębski, Janusz Stefański), Laboratorium and Breakwater [6] [7] ].
Later, Z. Lewandowski was replaced by Wojciech Morawski, who in turn was replaced by Marek Surzyn [8], followed by Ireneusz Nowacki [9]. Periodically, drummers: Ryszard Kupidura (ex-Maanam) and José Torres also collaborated with the band. In 1984, the Crash group ceased to exist
